Narrative Description & Status Of Project:

The Botswana Oil Limited Head Office is envisioned as a contemporary corporate landmark that reflects the organisation’s role as Botswana’s strategic energy custodian while embodying innovation, sustainability and national identity. Designed as a future-ready workplace, the building balances operational efficiency with architectural expression, creating an environment that supports collaboration, wellbeing and long-term adaptability.

Inspired by the Botswana Oil corporate identity, the design abstracts the oil droplet into a fluid architectural language that informs the organisation of space, circulation and interior experience. The concept extends beyond symbolism to express energy in motion—represented through rhythmic forms, repeated architectural elements and layered materials that create a sense of movement throughout the building. Together, these ideas celebrate Botswana’s natural resources while positioning Botswana Oil as a progressive energy company shaping the nation’s future.

The four-storey headquarters is organised as two interconnected towers surrounding a naturally lit central atrium. This arrangement encourages visual connectivity between departments, enhances internal collaboration and introduces daylight deep into the building. Public-facing functions—including the conference centre, café and reception spaces—activate the ground floor and establish an inviting civic interface, while upper floors accommodate operational departments, executive offices and flexible commercial space capable of generating additional revenue. A landscaped rooftop garden further strengthens the relationship between architecture and nature, providing an outdoor environment for informal interaction, corporate events and employee wellbeing

Approximately 10 740 sqm and Located within the Botswana Digital & Innovation Hub in Gaborone, the Botswana Oil Limited Head Office is conceived as a contemporary corporate campus that embodies innovation, sustainability and national identity. The development accommodates approximately 200 employees while providing flexible commercial space, creating an efficient workplace that supports Botswana Oil’s future growth and operational excellence.

The project responds to both the aspirations of Botswana Oil and the vision of the BDIH precinct by creating an iconic destination that integrates architecture, landscape and technology into a unified experience.
